Wolfgang Seierl is the founder of the Komponistenforum Mittersill, owner of the record label Einklang, chairman of the board for mica – music austria and a multifaceted artist. His paintings have been exhibited in galleries across the planet, and he has composed music that has also reached a global audience.
Most recently he has worked in collaboration with the Japanese choreographer and dancer Toshiko Oka and the Ensemble Sonne. Their third collaboration, 『The Fog』, will premiere in Kobe, Japan on the 28th of January. Wolfgang Seierl will be performing live on electronic guitar and electronics.
Mr. Seierl says the work is about loneliness and angst in an ever increasingly complex world that can only be perceived as a fog.
THE FOG – Toshiko Oka
There is a vast world out there,
with endlessly expanding dimensions which refuse to be one
giving rise to a misty fog that blankets everything.
In a world one cannot see through
my body is urged to move.
The looming sounds of footsteps.
Out of this restricted space emerges my dance,
adrift in layers of haze,
wandering around like a fog
destined to vanish over time.
(Toshiko Oka)
