Waves Vienna – Music Festival & Conference


12 Stages // 5 Days // 80 Acts // 28.09.–02.10.2011.
In September 2011 Vienna will catch up with cities like London, Barcelona, or Berlin; Waves Vienna will be the city’s first club festival. Vienna’s most significant clubs (Flex, Badeschiff, Fluc, Pratersauna), unique off-locations, and the public space will merge into the site of the Waves Vienna Festival from September 28th to October 2nd.

Festival.
Waves Vienna’s motto is „East meets West“; numerous international alternative, electronic, rock, and club acts will be performing around Vienna’s 2nd district.
Additionally, local artists and sophisticated musicians from Eastern Europe form an essential part of the festival’s programme. During 5 days 80 national and international acts will be performing on 12 stages.

Conference.
The Waves Vienna Music Conference constitutes a part of the festival and offers the possibility to attend lectures and panels and participate in workshops. The subjectspecific programme will deal with the topic „East meets West“, which will serve as the basis and inspiration for many years of pan-European cooperation.

Fringe Events.
A cooperation with the Viennale, accompanying screenings at Urania, and a cooperation with the Vienna Independent Shorts at Pratersauna will throw light on the topic of music in connection with film.

Organisers.
The Waves Vienna Festival is organised by the publishing house Monopol and its magazines TBA and The Gap. In the various areas Monopol works collaboratively with different companies and institutions; the conference is co-organised with mica – music austria, concerning booking and concept development Monopol cooperates with Ink Music, a music agency, label, and publisher founded in 2001.
