polkovPOLKOV (ink Music) have been the big surprise of the Austrian music year 2014 and are now out there to find the “Promised Land” they’ve been singing of. Located somewhere between spacy art-rock, acoustic and country, with occasional infusions of brit-pop, the exciting and varied songs of Polkov have their very own vibe, which is sometimes soft and melancholic and then again wonderfully dreamy. www.polkov.com

International music industry conference

The two-day music industry conference (27th – 28th March) covers a wide range of topics from local cultural policy and regional cooperation to hands-on artist management tips and global music industry business models. Each year’s conference also hosts a “celebrity talk” with an international music industry legend. Also the traditional opening speech of Tallinn Music Week by Estonian president, Toomas Hendrik Ilves is always a special treat to look forward to.

The internationally recognized event serves both as an effective networking platform for industry professionals and a diving-board for emerging acts around the world to get noticed by international and local talent-spotters and media. Besides the main frenzy taking place at the capital’s finest venues, there’s a way to discover a lesser-seen side of the city, free pop-up concerts, pub-quiz style chatter and culinary delights within TMW’s sub-programmes and fringe-events City Stage, TMW Talks, TMW Tastes and Tallinn Craft Beer Weekend.
