For most people, including a lot of musicians, August is what they call the Sommerloch in German, a black hole into which people happily disappear for a couple weeks. But not everyone! We’ve done some digging and turned up a few stellar acts who are working their way around the continent or the hemisphere this month.

Endless Wellness

If you’ve read anything about Endless Wellness, you’ve probably read about what good friends they are – and judging by their touring schedule, they’re also pretty hard workers. Super wholesome! It’s nice to see them doing well, still riding the wave of their 2023 debut album Was für ein Glück. In addition to a number of dates around Austria, you can see them this month at:

Gina Schwarz

The bassist Gina Schwarz, in addition to being an accomplished bandleader in her own right, is a representative of a venerable jazz tradition that doesn’t get a lot of notice these days, but without which the music would suffer: a real live sidewoman, capable of performing in a wide variety of contexts with a wide variety of artists. After a number of dates in Germany, she’s taking off on an American tour – no kidding! – with the female-power supergroup Sheroes.
