Third Edition of SPOT ON DENMARK in Vienna

On the 2nd of February 2012 the third edition of the SPOT ON DENMARK festival was successfully kicked off in Vienna. In terms of ambition, it was the biggest so far and was well received by an enthusiastic audience. As in the previous years 2010 and 2011, the festival has once again hit the mark with resounding success. The mini festival has already made quite a name for itself with music insiders and Scandinavia-lovers in the past years and has successfully hit the stage with sold out concerts in the Viennese venue B72. This time the festival was held at the Viennese venue WUK with the Danish bands Darkness Falls, Reptile Youth and Il Tempo Gigante, who shared the stage with the local special guest Garish. The WUK was packed with about 400 people who kept begging for more. One may assume that the selected bands from the North will soon be on everyone’s lips in this country.

To give visiting international industry professionals a taste of our local music, the festival was kicked off at the venue B72 on the 2nd of February with performances by the local bands Saedi, Diver and Monsterheart. The concept of the festival, which has also been held in Brussels, Paris and Berlin, goes far beyond that of an ordinary festival. With the aim to make the Danish pop scene more popular in Europe, music industry representatives from Hungary, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Serbia and Switzerland were also invited to get a picture of the vitality and quality of acts from the northern European country. The performing Austrian bands were selected by an Austrian jury (with representatives from FM4, the Gap, MTV Base, TBA, AMAN and Ink Records) on the occasion of the SPOT ON festival in Aarhus.
