Huddersfield is an inconspicuous 100.000 person city a mere one hour drive away from Manchester. Despite its size it is home to a famous university, that also hosts the Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival. A festival that has not only featured instrumental compositions but also electronic and improvisational music for four decades. Under the leadership of Graham Mckenzie, different traditions have been brought together in both conventional and unconventional ways.
On November 23,2017 Polwechsel (consisting of Burkhard Beins, Martin Brandlmayr, Werner Dafeldecker and Michael Moser) together with John Butcher and Klaus Lang will perform pieces by Klaus Lang, Werner Dafeldecker and Polwechsel, improvising together between all the compositions.
The next day, the PHACE Ensemble will perform works by Bernhard Lang, Jorge Sanchez-Chiong and Laura Bowler. In combination with the enthusiastic audience and the diverse venues of churches, concert halls, galleries and old mills, the surrounding area of Manchester is definitely worth a visit.
