International mission for professionals to Mexico: Open call for European participants to join a physical trade mission to Mexico City (February 10-12, 2025). Deadline to apply: December 23rd, 2024.
As part of a European project led by European Music Exporters Exchange EMEE, we are looking for 15 European music professionals, involved in either artist management, recording, publishing and live music. The international mission will consist of curated market introduction sessions, panel discussions on the different sectors and on-site visits to a company and/or a venue with Mexican music professionals and plenty of networking opportunities. Selected applicants will get a 1000 EUR travel bursary in order to pay for their international travel from Europe to Mexico and 5 days accommodation in Mexico City will be covered by EMEE. Participants need to plan to cover further expenses themselves: local travel, meals, drinks etc.

NOTE: Please note that in the context of this call, by Europeans we mean: permanent residents of EU countries, as well as countries taking part in the Creative Europe programme, Switzerland and UK residents.
What is the international mission for professionals?
This international mission for music professionals comes after EMEE’s international market mission in December 2023, when a group of music exporters members of EMEE went to Mexico City for a 3-day programme to discover the Mexican music market, make new connections and build bridges between Europe and Mexico. It is also a follow-up to the EMX mission in 2022, dedicated to electronic music especially. Now, it’s time to bring various music professionals from Europe, for them to strengthen this bridge. Mexican participants will include representatives of festivals & music business events, concert promoters, music venues and clubs, PR agencies, labels, publishers & sync agents.
Key objectives include:
● Increased understanding of the local culture and market
● Sharing challenges, opportunities and solutions
● Forging long-term relationships
● Imagining the future of transatlantic artistic collaboration
● Trade
EMEE will organise an online meeting to prepare for the mission. Date and timing announced later.
Who should apply?
● We are looking for 15 music professionals, legally residing in either EU countries, Creative Europe countries, Switzerland and the UK, who above all are passionate about cross-cultural collaborations and keen to explore new ways of exporting European music to Mexico.
● People working in live music, publishing, recording or as artist managers.
● Especially if you are directly involved with the export development and strategy.
Please apply if you meet the following criteria:
Mandatory:
● Over 18 years old.
● Legally residing in a EU or Creative Europe country.
● Good level of spoken and written English.
● You have at least 3 years of experience in the music industry.
● Have had interest from Mexican music professionals or music companies, or already had an
experience in the market.
Optional:
● Knowledge of Spanish is beneficial.
Please note: only one participant per company can be selected.
As well as evaluating applications on their enthusiasm, interest and previous music export experience, we will ensure selected participants cover a range of experience, from a range of EU countries and are gender balanced.
What is expected from participants?
● Mandatory attendance at all joint events (3 full days) during the trade mission as well as the online
preparatory meeting.
● Active engagement in the brainstorming group sessions, networking sessions and all other curated
trade mission activities as specified.
● Travel Insurance to provide for emergency medical coverage – you have to provide the travel insurance
in order to receive any upfront travel reimbursement.
● Due to force majeure, your flight needs to be booked in a way that you can cancel it and you get full
reimbursement.
What do you get in return?
● Travel reimbursement for an economy class plane return ticket from your country/city of residence to
Mexico City up to € 1000.
● 5 nights covered at our chosen hotel where the whole group will stay.
● The opportunity to take part in a joint European trade mission, with the opportunity to meet top-level
professionals and connect within European participants.
● The opportunity during the programme to kick-start and nurture future international collaborations.
