The MUSIKFORUM VIKTRING-KLAGENFURT has announced the 21st INTERNATIONAL GUSTAV MAHLER COMPOSITION PRIZE OF THE CITY OF KLAGENFURT. Composers of any nationality and without age restriction are invited to submit a composition (duration: max. 10 minutes) for saxophone quartet (soprano saxophone, alto saxophone, tenor saxophone, baritone saxophone). The deadline to apply is March 15th, 2022.
The winning works will be premiered by the Mobilis Saxophone Quartet on July 10, 2022 at the
Musikforum in Klagenfurt and recorded by the Austrian Broadcasting Corporation (ORF) and broadcast on Ö1.
The Gustav Mahler Composition Prize has existed since 1995 and is characterized by its openness to all musical directions.
Submitting composers are encouraged to experiment and re-think stylistic boundaries. The integration of improvised elements is also possible.

• 3rd Prize (sponsored by Musikforum Viktring-Klagenfurt): 500 Euros
