Do you live in Austria and make music theatre? If so, your best chance to get your work seen and mix it up with other people in your branch is coming around again: the Austrian Music Theatre Day, happening on September 27 – 28, is now accepting applications to pitch new work!

The Austrian Music Theatre Day, part of the annual Musiktheatertage Wien, was initiated in 2015; mica – music austria and Austrian Music Export have been co-organizers since 2018. The event offers Austria-based producers and artists the chance to network and pitch new works to event promoters from Austria and abroad.

The facts

Music theatre groups, producers, composers, and musicians are invited to submit their works for consideration. Submitted works must have music as an integral part and be created by an Austria-based artist. The works may be through-composed or improvisation- or performance-based. Submissions can be made in two categories:

  1. Three slots of ten minutes each are available for completed works premiered in 2023 or 2024, or due to be premiered in the near future. *Please include information on any and all grants received, as well as existing partner organizations or venues. You must be willing to accept international engagements/cooperate with international partners.
  2. Open pitches: three-minute slots to present concepts for new works during a round-table discussion.
