One Year of Austrian Music Export: A Retrospective

It is the Holiday season and there’s nothing like sitting back and reflecting on what the previous year has brought us. It’s been a year since the Austrian Music Export officially launched, and what a year it has been. Between constant concert showcases, B2B events, conferences, workshops, and more, the Austrian Music Export has had a rather successful first year and doesn’t seem to show any signs of stopping.

Fortunately for us there has been a keen interest in music in and from Austria. Particularly gratifying is the fact that local artists were able to draw  a lot of international attention to themselves and celebrate significant successes in this year, for example, the young Austrian band Elektro Guzzi, who was awarded with the international “European Border Breakers Award” (EBBA) in January.

The attendance of various festivals and events has been excellent and exceeded our expectations. Among many highlights of the year, the Waves Vienna Music Festival & Conference was able to draw a very positive balance. True to the motto “East meets West”, the festival was not only able to present a top-notch music and conference program, but also achieved a peak attendance with 10,800 visitors.
