European indie label association IMPALA presents the nominees for the 11th edition of its European Independent Album Of The Year Award. Austrian band MY UGLY CLEMENTINE is in the running for their debut album “Vitamin C”, which was released by ink Music in 2020.
Each European indie association is invited to nominate one album from its own country. The Austrian Independent Record Labels Association VTMÖ placed the selection of the Austrian nomination in the hands of a top-class jury. MY UGLY CLEMENTINE emerged as the Austrian winner by a large margin.
Now it is up to the pan-European jury to choose the IMPALA EUROPEAN ALBUM OF THE YEAR 2020 from the list of 25 nominations from almost all European countries. The decision is expected early next year.
IMPALA, based in Brussels, represents the interests of around 5,000 indie labels from all over Europe. The IMPALA INDEPENDENT ALBUM OF THE YEAR AWARD has been celebrating the diversity of music published by Europe’s independent labels since 2010. The previous winners were Adele, José González, Caribou, Efterklang, Viagra Boys, Apparat, Gurr, Agnes Obel, Guadelupe Plata and The xx. The prize is chosen by an international jury of experts on the basis of outstanding quality.
