Music Europe Day on May 9th 2020


Celebrating European indie music with a massive 12-hour Facebook live stream event!

Europavox, the European Commission join forces to celebrate European independent music, solidarity and diversity, in waht Europavox CEP Francois Missonnier calls „an urgently important act of embracing European music and all the solidarity, unity and diversity it inspires acrross the continent in these challenging times of closed borders and isolation“.

WHAT?

Saturday the 9th of May will not only mark Europe Day, the day that unites Europeans, but also a unique new 12-hour long Facebook live stream event called Music Europe Day launched by Europavox, the European Commission Representation in France and the European Parliament Liaison Office in France. The live stream will be broadcasted live from Europavox’s Facebook pages (Europavox / Festival Europavox), as well as the pages of the French Representation of the European Commission and the European Parliament from 12pm to 12am.

The event will be a celebration of 30 different European artists from all around. Editorial coordination of the entire event is in the hands of renowned London-based French music journalist and founder of the legendary French music publication Les Inrocks JD Beauvallet. The artists will discuss the place where they live and current lockdown status, let them tell the stories behind their music, their country, their city and their tour memories across Europe before the artist deliver original live sessions from their homes. Each artist session (interview and live set) will ini the sign of equality last 20 minutes.

In summary European Music Day lets the viewer embark on a unique. musical journey across Europe, guided by what is probably the most diverse and extensive line-up witnessed in any Corona live stream to date, when considering factors such as genre, gender, country and origin.

WHY?

As many of us have momentarily given up our freedom of movement, it is an essential time to remember and appreciate the rights, values and freedoms the European Uunion has given us. It’s also a crucial time to fight against the any movements promoting inward-thinking attitudes and protect the precious European solidarity and diversity that we have enjoyed since the creation of the EU.
