MEWEM Europa is a project to implement mentoring programmes for women, trans and non-binary people in the music industry on a European scale. The project’s goal is that more women, trans and non-binary people will shape the music industry in leadership positions and as founders. Therefore, the project promotes access to management positions and entrepreneurship as well as the development of management skills among young women, trans and non-binary people in the music industry.

For this purpose, MEWEM created a mentoring-based training programme, adapted to the music sector and with a European dimension. Seven partner organisation from six different countries support the project. Building on the experience of the various partners, a model mentoring programme for women, trans and non-binary people in the music industry will be developed from which other European organisations can also benefit.

The Austrian partner organisation is mica – music austria. As part of this four-month program, 10 experienced industry experts from the areas of label, publishing, sales, booking, promotion and self-marketing artists are brought together with 10 young professionals. The aim is to provide the young professionals with support in their professional and personal development.

The kick-off of the project will take place on September 9 as part of the Waves Festival in Vienna.

MEWEM Europa is funded by Creative Europe. It follows an experimental project led by FELIN, le LABA and VUT in France and Germany funded by the European Union as part of Music Moves Europe.
