Every year in April, jazzahead! turns Bremen into the most important meeting place for the international jazz scene. This year’s fair will happen in hybrid form, from April 28th to May 1st. The trade fair will also feature an integrated showcase festival. Approximately 40 bands from 18 countries will hit the stage. From Austria, the quartet J.D.HIVE will be part of the European Jazz Meeting showcase program, and, as always Austrian companies, artists and organizations will be represented at the fair. The Festival
The 11th anniversary of the festival will be celebrated over four days and with a program that celebrates music and culture, and brings the international jazz community together for invigorating exchange and experience.

“Classical chamber jazz of the highest quality; ECM-worthy” wrote Mary James of London Jazz News upon hearing Austrian violinist Johannes Dickbauer’s quartet performance at the 2020 Seifert Jazz Violin Competition, from which he emerged as joint top prizewinner. J.D.Hive is his quartet with Sebastian Schneider, Andreas Waelti and András Dés. Vienna-born, Curtis (Philadelphia)-trained, and a founder member of radio.string.quartet.vienna, Dickbauer ‘s musical vocabulary is characterised by an unmistakable spirit of adventure – playfully fusing classical, folk, jazz and rock elements. The band’s debut album will be released on Traumton in May 2022.

The Showcase FESTIVAL 2022
40 bands from Germany, Europe and overseas have been chosen from all applications by the international juries and will be invited to play their Showcase concert live in Bremen.

In 2022 the Austrian pavilion is organized by ADVANTAGE AUSTRIA / AUSSENWIRTSCHAFT AUSTRIA and Austrian Music Export and will present 14 music acts, companies and organisations from the Austrian music industry. The Austrian pavilion at jazzahead! 2022 was designed by Chmara.Rosinke, an international creative studio deciphering delight and delivering design solutions in the context of food and contemporary culture, combining craftsmanship with a conceptual and an ecological approach.
