The IMZ Academy is a master class-series for young and established professionals in the area of audio-visual music and dance production. Highly practical workshops and interactive seminars facilitate intensive exchange of renowned experts or new talents. Covering topics from multi-camera capture training to the specific conditions of performance capture for TV, cinema or online, the IMZ Academy aims at developing innovative, industry-specific know-how and establishing sustainable networks.
The IMZ Academy: Going Live – Challenges and Opportunities, taking place September 20 + 21, 2018 in Prague, examines the phenomenon of “live” from strategic, editorial, artistic, practical and technological perspectives. Expert speakers share best practice through real-life case studies and provide fresh insights for anyone interested in going live with a performing arts performance, be it a performing arts festival or institution, an event venue or a production company.
Sessions & the IMZ ACADEMY
Participants of the IMZ Academy will interrogate the reasons to go live in terms of editorial goals and audience impact – why do it all and who is it aimed at? Furthermore, they will explore different key methods of delivery from full-scale, multi-camera OB to a simple iPhone, and they will evaluate what these different methods can deliver, individually and in combination, and the artistic, technical and financial considerations involved.
The sessions will be led by IMZ Academy director Peter Maniura (Head of Digital Development, BBC Music) with experts and eminent guest speakers John Kieser (Executive Vice President + Provost, New World Symphony), Hervé Boissière (Founder + CEO, medici.tv), and Peter Stewart (Digital and Social Media Producer, BBC + Author of “The Live-Streaming Handbook”) sharing their insights on the latest developments and technologies in the field.
The IMZ Academy “Going Live” is designed to help organisations + events to discover and assess different approaches in order to find the most suitable strategy for their individual needs. It hence broadens the horizon and supports the work of representatives of the following departments:
- Managing and Artistic Direction
- Digital & Media Development Departments

- Public Relations

as well as - Individual Artists and Artist Companies

Furthermore, participants receive detailed feedback on their learning process.
As a professionalisation initiative, the IMZ Academy does not only provide training and development sessions but also enables peer learning and mutual inspiration.
