I AM ABROAD is the new European project promoted by Taller de Músics, designed to strengthen improvised music networks in the European music ecosystem. Selected through LIVEMX, the project starts in October and launches a series of actions aimed at responding to the needs of free improvisation artists in the export of their music. I AM ABROAD is seeking Jazz/Free Improvisation musicians based in Vienna, Austria to participate in the European showcase project, which includes creative sessions, networking opportunities, and international participation in showcase festivals in Vienna, Barcelona, and Gothenburg. I AM ABROAD is the new European project promoted by Taller de Músics, designed to strengthen improvised music networks in the European music ecosystem. Selected through LIVEMX, the project starts this October and launches a series of actions aimed at responding to the needs of free improvisation artists in the export of their music.
Barcelona, Vienna and Gothenburg will work together on this initiative, organising music co-creation events and bringing together key players in each country, such as music export offices, international meetings and venues.
The project will include sessions open to the public in the different participating cities, which will take place on the following dates: 12 November at JazzSí Club (Barcelona), 13 November at Das Werk club (Vienna), in collaboration with the DE/SEMBLE festival, and 20 November at Musikens Hus (Gothenburg), together with the Knutpunkt association. During these sessions, a number of artists will be selected for international promotion and will be integrated into a network that will connect them with institutions and professionals in the sector. I AM ABROAD will thus continue with more performances and new co-creation and networking sessions, scheduled for December 2024 in Vienna, March 2025 in Barcelona and September 2025 in Gothenburg.
All free improvisation artists are invited to join the session on November 13th at Das Werk in Vienna, where at least two artists will be selected to participate in the international events of the project.

Selection Process:
* 6 artists will be chosen to take part in the creative session. Duos will be formed using a randomising tool, and each will perform a ~15-minute improvisation.
* Performances will be professionally recorded, with the videos available for artists’ use.
Eligibility:
* Must be based in Austria/Vienna (no accommodation provided for events in Vienna)
* Available on 2-4 December 2024 (Vienna), 12-14 March 2025 (Barcelona), and 4-6 September 2025 (Gothenburg)
* Must be associated with the jazz/improvised music scene

* 2 selected musicians – participation in the international project: The day after the creative session, two musicians will be selected to participate in the international showcases, with travel, accommodation, and fees covered for the events in Barcelona and Gothenburg.
I AM ABROAD is a project led and organised by Taller de Músics with funding from the European Union through the LIVEMX call for proposals. Taller de Músics connects and develops the project with collaborators Catalan Arts Music Export, JAZZ I AM, Austrian Music Export, Kick Jazz, DE/SEMBLE, Tumult Total, JazzSí Club, Kuntpunkt, Göteborg Artist Center, Musikens Hus Göteborg and Brötz.
