These five young musicians from Austria’s westernmost province of Vorarlberg have recently become a cult phenomenon in Central Europe. One of their songs, Vo Mello Bis Ge Schoppornou, even made second place in the charts in Austria and Germany, and broke Youtube records.
For the first time, these “Spice Girls of folk music” (- Austrian Daily Kurier) will be bringing their unique brand of folk-meets-pop-meets-funk-meets-jazz-meets-world music to New York, for an evening at the Austrian Cultural Forum. This concert will mark the end of the 2011 season at the ACFNY, and though Holstuonarmusigbigbandclub will not be performing Christmas music, this concert will serve as a traditional year-end Christmas concert.
The multi-instrumentalists of hmbc (short for holstuonarmusigbigbandclub), Andreas Broger (Clarinet, Saxophone, Vocals, Flugelhorn, Recorder), Bartholomaeus Natter (Trumpet, Flugelhorn, Beat-Box, Vocals), Johannes Baer (Euphonium, Trombone, Tuba, Tambourine, Beatbox, Vocals), Philipp Lingg (Vocals, Guitar, Accordion), and Stefan Bär (Tuba, Euphonium, Trombone, Vocals) manage to meld musical genres from all over the world; from the Mississippi-Delta to the top of the Austrian Alps.
While the five musicians have each performed as members of countless renowned orchestras, jazz-bands and pop-acts, thay have managed to record 3 albums together, Querschlager, Free sin, and their latest, Lieble.
