Global Toronto 2021 has selected its Spotlight Artists and Golnar & Mahan Trio are among them! More than just a marketplace, Global Toronto is a meeting place, a global gathering in the tradition of our home, which has been a site of coming-together for millennia. A music showcase and conference rooted in re-imagining a sustainable, equitable, and accessible future for the music sector, Global Toronto 2021 (GT21) will be held online from Monday – Friday, June 14-18, 2021.
Over the last three months, the GT21 Jury of music professionals selected 22 Spotlight Artists – 18 Canadian and 4 international – through a rigorous process guided by equity, artistic quality, and market-readiness. We are thrilled that the powerful Austrian-based Golnar & Mahan Trio are 1 of them! Each artist will have their own Spotlight where they will be showcased to the international music community.
Golnar & Mahan Trio
Offering a masterful and fresh approach to the art of musical storytelling, Golnar & Mahan Trio draw together elements of contemporary jazz, Middle-Eastern music, African folk, polyrhythmic grooves, Afro-Cuban, and European chamber music to create an original international sound with roots in a shared heritage. Multi-instrumental, multi-lingual, and transcultural, the trio is the definition of a cosmopolitan band.
