On September 21, 2022, after a two-year break, the International Film Music Symposium (FIMU) will take place once again at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna (MdW). And on September 22 a Masterclass will be given by Alan Menken. Program and registration details below!
For this year’s symposium, they have brought in one of the most important contemporary composers of the “dream factory”: ALAN MENKEN. In addition to “The Little Mermaid”, the composer wrote the soundtrack and songs for the modern Disney classics “Beauty and the Beast”, “Aladdin”, “Pocahontas”, “The Hunchback of Notre Dame” and many more – Disney’s dream worlds received their unmistakable sound through him. He has been awarded 8 Oscars, 11 Grammys and 7 Golden Globes, a Tony, and many other important prizes, for his music.
Furthermore, other renowned experts from Austria and the USA will talk about composing for Walt Disney Studios and the collaboration with Alan Menken, and will shed light on: How Alan Menken’s musical productions are created? What are the legal challenges of film and musical productions and what are the differences between them? How is a soundtrack for an animated film created? … And much more.
