In 2023, Austrian Music Export launched a multi-stage, cross-genre program aimed at fostering closer connections and strengthening networking opportunities with international markets in the recorded music and publishing sectors. The long-term goal is to increase the internationalization rate of Austrian repertoires by focusing on training and international exchange.
Co-financed by LSG Producers and FAMA (Association of the Film and Music Industry), the program was designed using a modular approach, integrating economic and artistic components that interlock to create a stronger overall impact.
The measures primarily target the infrastructure surrounding artists, particularly labels, publishers, and management teams. Small-group capacity-building missions, customized mentoring programs and buddy systems at events — along with the organization of national songwriting/producer camps as well as the support for international camp participations — help establish (new) connections in the medium to long term. These connections, in turn, foster practical, artistic, and economic collaborations.
With these modules, Building Bridges not only engages with existing markets but also explores and analyzes new potential markets through internal fact-finding missions, laying the groundwork for future Building Bridges Missions.
