Austrian Music Fund: Financial Support for 24 Local Acts

For the 19th time the Austrian Music Fund opened a call to apply for production funding, which 136 Austrian musicians, bands and ensembles followed. As a result, the December call has been the strongest round in the history of the Austrian Music Fund. Funding commitments were ultimately determined for 24 acts by a selected jury. 10 of these also received an additional video promotion.

Upon a commissioned evaluation, the Austrian Federal Ministry of Arts and Culture agreed to increase the budget for the coming year 2012. The funding partners AKM/GFÖM, FAMA, IFPI/LSG and ÖSTIG/LSG will also raise their contribution to the Music Fund. This adds up to a total of 920 000 Euros for 2012. In addition, the Austrian Music Fund has taken over the music export agendas of AMAN (Austrian Music Ambassador Network).

The Austrian Music Fund is an initiative that aims to promote and fund professional Austrian music productions in order to increase the recognition and proliferation and to strengthen Austria as a creative hub. The Austrian Music Fund is open to all musicians, performers, music producers, music publishers and labels centered in Austria. The funding goes to music productions for sound recordings or other audiovisual media, or music productions for new media. In addition, the Austrian Music Fund funds live tours that serve the promotion of sponsored productions.
