The Arditti Quartet enjoys an outstanding reputation for its vibrant and refined interpretations of contemporary compositions. Several hundreds of string quartet works have been composed for this ensemble since its foundation in 1974 by the violinist Irvine Arditti. Many of these pieces play an intregral in today’s contemporary music and have thus firmly placed the Arditti Quartet on the pedestal of music history. The vast music repertoire of the quartet includes premieres by composers such as Ades, Andriessen, Aperghis, Birtwistle, Britten, Cage, Carter, Denisov, Dillon, Dufourt, Dusapin, Fedele, Ferneyhough, Francesconi, Gubaidulina, Guerrero, Harvey, Hosokawa, Kagel, Kurtag, Lachenmann, Ligeti, Maderna, Manoury, Nancarrow, Reynolds, Rihm, Scelsi, Sciarrino, Stockhausen or Xenakis.
Performing on the 6th of March 2014 at the New Music Dublin festival, the Arditti Quartet will present works by Georg Friedrich Haas, Hans Abrahamsen and Iannis Xenakis.
