The year 2013 is coming to an end and yet another exciting year lies ahead. In our second year of establishing the Austrian Music Export office, we can look back on another busy and prosperous year. Between constant concert showcases, B2B events, conferences, workshops, and more, the activities of the Austrian Music Export are showing postive results and are fortunately also being recognized beyond Austrian borders.
Particularly gratifying is the fact that local artists were able to draw a lot of international attention to themselves and celebrate significant successes in this year, for example, at the Popfest Wien, which presented an exclusively Austrian lineup and counted 60,000 visitors, or the Reeperbahn Festival Hamburg, which invited more Austrian acts to showcase their talents than ever before, or the Waves Vienna Festival, which was once again able to break its record in visitor numbers.
Definitely one of our biggest highlights this year was the announcement of Austria’s invitation as the Focus Country of the Eurosonic Festival 2014 in Groningen, Netherlands. With 18 confirmed Austrian acts, it is a great honor and huge recognition for the local music scene. It also confirms that we are on the right track and should keep on pushing forward. With the Focus on Austria at the Eurosonic Festival 2014, the upcoming January will be a big month for us and we hope to celebrate this special event with you in Groningen.
