AND THE AMADEUS AWARD GOES TO…


The secret is out and the winners announced. Yesterday, May 6th, the coveted trophies of the Amadeus Austrian Music Awards were presented to the winners in 15 categories. Star of the evening was Christina Stürmer, who took home two Amadeus Awards (“Album of the Year”, “Pop”). Nazar prevailed in the category “Best Video”, and Anna F. received the Amadeus Award for “Song of the Year”.

Once again Parov Stelar won in the category “Best Live Act”, Darius & Finlay came out first in the category “Electronic/Dance”. Kaiser Franz Josef were bestowed with the award in the category “Rock/Hard & Heavy”, RAF 3.0 was honored in the category “HipHip/RnB”. The “FM4 Award” went to Bilderbuch, Norbert Schneider received his Amadeus in the category “Jazz/World/Blues”. The Amadeus for Schlager went to Charly Brunner & Simone, and Andreas Gabalier took home the prize in the category “Folk Music”. This year Stefanie Werger was honored with the Amadeus for “Lifetime Achievement”.

Eberhard Forcher also received an Amadeus as “Music Partner of the Year” for his “Austrozone”, a YouTube channel featuring Austrian music. At a kick-off event a few days ahead of the ceremony , the award “Best Engineered Album” was handed to Georg Tomandl and Mischa Janisch for the album “One by One” by Coshiva.

About the Amadeus Austrian Music Awards

After a launch party in 2000, the Amadeus soon turned into one of the top events of the Austrian music scene. Performances by national and international top-notch artists, Amadeus winners and prominent presenters from the “who’s who” of the music and media scene make the Amadeus an attractive show event. The award ceremony focuses on Austrian artists and the genre diversity of their music. The award is bestowed once a year.
