5 Million Pesos is the monthly concert series of young jazz in and from Austria, a presentation of Radiokulturhaus Vienna and the Ö1 jazz department.

Yvonne Moriel Quartet

Yvonne Moriel – alto saxophone, flute
Lorenz Widauer – trumpet
Stephanie Weninger – Moog synthesizer, keyboards
Raphael Vorraber – drums

The Tyrol-born saxophonist Yvonne Moriel can comfortably be called one of the rising stars in Austrian jazz in recent years. She has graced the bands of Christoph Cech, Christian Muthspiel, and Ralph Mothwurf as a member and soloist, and she has also been making herself known as a bandleader: in 2020 she released her EP “Dreamers“, quickly following it up with 2021’s “Sweet Life“. The two records blend jazz with dub, hip-hop, and electronic sounds as a setting for her striking saxophone improvisations.
