“5 Million Pesos” is a monthly concert and radio broadcast series of young jazz in and from Austria – presented by Radiokulturhaus Vienna and the Ö1 jazz department. In April, the young string master – Victoria Kirilova – presents the album debut “Roots & Skies” by her new quartet with clarinetist Oscar Antoli, pianist Urs Hager and percussionist Amir Wahba.

Victoria Kirilova Quartet
Bulgarian bassist Victoria Kirilova has made a name for herself as an active member of the young jazz scene in the Austrian capital after studying in her home town of Sofia, Milan and Vienna. Now a much sought-after sidewoman, Kirilova is also making a name for herself as a bandleader. Refined and sensual contemporary jazz compositions, fed by classical chamber music as well as the chants and odd rhythms of the folklore traditions of Bulgaria and the Middle East.
