5 MILLION PESOS is a monthly concert series presented by ORF RadioKulturhaus and the radio Ö1 jazz department. Every month, one up-and-coming jazz act is selected to be highlighted on air and live at the Vienna RadioCafe.

Tobias Meissl

Tobias Meissl is currently one of the most sought-after vibraphonists in the young Viennese jazz scene and will give a solo concert as part of “5 Million Pesos”.

His skills are in demand; for example in the quintet of saxophonist Robert Unterköfler and in the orchestra of composer shooting star Ralph Mothwurf. Meissl does what only a few vibraphonists dare to do: he gives solo concerts, on the one hand transferring pianistic ideas to the vibraphone. On the other hand, he repeatedly uses delay and other effects and preparations, thus alienating the sound of his instrument – something different that is rather rare in the jazz scene.

Reason enough to invite the 1993-born, native Viennese, who is also a trained pianist and studied jazz composition at the Berklee College of Music in Boston, to a solo concert in the “5 Million Pesos” series!

The event will take place on March 17th, 2022 at 8pm in the Klang Theater at the ORF Radiokulturhaus in Vienna.

In cooperation with the Ö1 jazz department.
